Fall in Livonia means crisp air, colorful leaves, and a full lineup of events that bring families, friends, and neighbors together. If you’re looking for pumpkin patches, hayrides, or a little spooky fun, Livonia has you covered from mid-October through the end of the month.
Pumpkin Fest at The Wilson Barn
One of the top spots to visit is Pumpkin Fest at The Wilson Barn, happening on weekends from October 11 to 26, 2025. Open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, this festival is packed with classic fall activities. You can pick out a pumpkin, enjoy a hayride, or grab a warm cup of cider and a fresh donut. The barn grounds are filled with photo-worthy displays of corn stalks, straw bales, and gourds, all reasonably priced for your home decor.
Kids love the petting zoo from 2 to 5 p.m., the bounce house from 12 to 6 p.m., and the wagon rides, which run all day. Local crafters and vendors set up each weekend, and live music adds to the cheerful vibe. Best of all, admission is free—you only pay for specific activities or food.
Get Spooked at the Haunted Barn Stroll
For those who like a little thrill, the Haunted Barn Stroll runs during the last three weekends of the festival. Open from 12 to 6 p.m., this’s a family-friendly scare experience where the level of intensity can be adjusted to suit your comfort. Whether you’re bringing toddlers or teens, everyone can enjoy a mild fright for just $1 at the door. Afterward, stick around to enjoy the rest of Pumpkin Fest.
More Fall Fun for Families
If you’re in the mood for crafts and stories, the Stories, Snacks, and Crafts: Potatoes, Apples, and Pumpkins, Oh My! event is perfect for kids ages 4 to 10. It runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at The Rec. Kids will hear fall-themed stories, make crafts, and enjoy a snack. Registration is required, and the cost is $10 for Livonia residents.
Older kids can enjoy the Spooky Swim on Sunday, October 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Kirksey Recreation Center. This event includes games, crafts, and a floating pumpkin patch in the pool. Parents must register and stay with their children.
Sweet Treats and Local Flavors
For a grown-up twist on fall fun, check out Chocolate 101 on Tuesday, October 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Greenmead Historical Park. This tasting class, led by Dough Joe’s, explores chocolates from around the world. It’s a fun night out with friends and requires advance registration.
Candy-Go-Round for Halloween Fun
Wrap up the season with the Candy-Go-Round on Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kirksey Recreation Center. This free, family-friendly event lets kids trick-or-treat from car to car in the parking lot. Costumes are encouraged, and registration is required. It’s paired with the Haunted StoryWalk® at Bennett Civic Center Library, where a shuttle runs between locations for extra candy and fun.
With so many events, Livonia makes it easy to enjoy the season without traveling far. From pumpkin picking to candy hunts, there’s something for every age.
